The pressure is rising and play is underway on time in all three of the fourth-round matches of the 2019/20 Ford Trophy season this morning.
Hagley Oval hosts Canterbury heads into a big clash with Northern Districts with Canterbury today looking to extend its lead at the top of the table. Canterbury captain Cole McConchie has won the toss and elected bat, in fine conditions.
Central Stags captain Tom Bruce has also elected to bat first after winning the toss in the match on a windy Lincoln No.3 today against a strong Wellington Firebirds line-up. Brad Schmulian, the man who made a New Zealand record 203 on first-class debut, is making his List A (one-day) debut for the injury-hit Stags.
Across the hedge at Bert Sutcliffe Oval, Auckland Aces captain Craig Cachopa has also elected to bat first, Colin Munro and Martin Guptill opening the batting as the Aces look to try to reclaim their early lead in their match against the Otago Volts.
